A thousand moms, grandmas and their families form Picasso's "Motherhood" at Ocean Park beach in Santa Monica, CA to celebrate Mother's Day on May 11, 2003. The event called attention to the original Mother's Day which was founded by Julia Ward Howe as a day calling for peace by all mothers who had lost their sons in the civil war.

Thousands gather to form Picasso's Face of Peace in Santa Monica as millions gather worldwide calling for peaceful resolution of the Iraq crisis.

Broadcast live around the globe on CNN. One participant was watching CNN two blocks away, saw the image as it was forming and walked down to join before it's conclusion.
